The Toys Directive 2009/48/EC is focused on the safety of toys. Toys that are placed on the EC market must comply with the essential safety requirements of this Directive. These requirements are aimed at the physical, mechanical, chemical and electrical properties of toys. The Toys Directive also imposes requirements regarding the flammability, hygiene and (if applicable) radioactivity of toys. Toys intended for children under the age of 3 must comply with stricter requirements than toys intended for older children.
